DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
Faculty of commerce established in June-1968 under the headship of Shri. V. D. Chavan. The major areas of studies in this faculty are Accounts and Applied statistics, Business Economics, Business Studies and Mercantile Law. The present faculty position of the department is Dr. H. W. Kulkarni, (Head of the Department), Mr. B. P. Biradar, Mr. D.B. Konale, Mrs. S. D. Jadhav, Mr. A. P. Gambhire, Mr. Arvind Anantwal.
With a view to impart a new approach to the study of Commerce having employment orientation, introduction of new vocational subjects and career oriented programs was felt necessary. Computer application as a vocational course was introduced at the UG level in the year 2000, sponsored by UGC with an intake capacity of 30 students. E-Commerce Career oriented program was introduced at the UG & PG level in the year 2010, sponsored by UGC with an intake capacity of 30 students. Under the present scheme the department established a computer lab with 20 computers with internet connectivity.
To meet the long standing demand of research facility in Commerce, the college started a research centre in commerce duly recognised by the S.R.T.M.University, Nanded in the year 2000. Dr. K. P. Biradar, the Director of the centre has successfully guided eight students for their Ph.D. degrees in Commerce. Dr. K. P. Biradar retired in July-2007. Then Dr. H. W. Kulkarni became research guide of the centre. Under the guidance of Dr. H. W. Kulkarni one student is awarded Ph.D. degree and eight part time research scholars have been registered with him for their Ph.D. degree, and their work is in progress. Eight students awarded M.Phil. and one research student have been registered.
The facility of post-graduate studies in Commerce was made available in the year 2001. Extension lectures are regularly arranged for the benefit of the post graduate students.
The industrial and Environmental visits are arranged to get the students acquainted with their business practices. The department regularly arranges various programs like observation of National days, inauguration and felicitations for interactions among the students on the various aspects of the subjects and for the development of their overall personality.
